ABOUT SIR - SOUTHWESTERN INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY (SIR)

SIR was constructed in 1997 by the Pima County Fair Commission replacing the historical “Tucson Dragway” facility.

In 2007 the Southwest Fair Commission sold the facility lease to three Tucson area businessmen. Two of the original lease holders, Jon Bradford and Tom Koenen, continue to maintain the lease agreement and operate the facility as SIR Llc. 

In January 2011 SIR became an IHRA sanctioned facility, becoming the first and only IHRA raceway in Arizona and in the Southwest region of the USA.  SIR will maintain its status as an IHRA sanctioned facility in 2012.
